Fair use policy for 0845 and 0870 calls

BT operates a fair use policy for inclusive 0870 and 0845 calls so we can continue to offer them to all of our customers. The fair usage policy limits are set at a very high level of usage, which means the vast majority of our customers will not approach the limits.

You can make a total of 1,000 minutes of calls or 150 calls in a rolling 30-day period.

If you exceed either of these limits you'll be charged for all future 0845 and 0870 calls made from your account.

If you exceed the limits we'll send a notification SMS text message to the landline telephone number we have for your account.

What is a dial-through access number?

A dial-through access number is any number which connects you to another number that is both known by, and could be directly dialled by you from your BT landline. The dial-through access number charges a cheaper rate. There are typically two types of these calls.

  1. You first dial an 0870 or 0845 number and then, while still connected, you dial the intended destination number to be connected
  2. You're connected directly to the intended destination number by dialling an 0870 or 0845 number, having previously routed the destination number through an 0870 or 0845 number, which can be done via the internet or by other means
