Your BT TV remote isn't controlling the TV box
Try these quick steps to fix the problem, after each one recheck your remote.
Point the remote at the TV box
Make sure your remote is pointed directly at the TV box and not the TV itself. If your TV box is in a closed cabinet, try opening the door to make it easier for your remote to connect with the TV box.
Check your battery level
The following steps will show your remote's battery level:
- Select the 'Home' or 'YouView' button on the remote.
- Go to settings (cog in the top-right).
- Scroll to 'connected devices' and select 'remote'.
- The remaining battery level will show on screen.
If the light on your remote doesn’t flash when you press the buttons then your batteries need replacing.
Reset your remote
If your remote is still not working, it's best to reset your remote – this is quick and easy to do and solves most problems.
Reboot your TV box
If the light on your remote does flash but your remote still isn’t working, this means the issue is probably with your TV box and not the remote itself.
You can fix the problem by rebooting your TV box. To do this, switch off your TV box, unplug it from the wall, wait for 30 seconds and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Tip: How to reduce remote interference
Your remote’s signal can be affected by the settings on your TV such as energy saving mode and the screen dimming feature. If possible try to turn these settings off, see your TV user guide for instructions.
