What’s this cancellation fee for?

Big things are coming at EE

BT and EE are part of the same family, and big things are coming for the EE brand. But this won't change any of the BT services you have with us today. Read more about the changes coming to EE.

There's a minimum term for most BT products. If you cancel within this time you'll have to pay an early termination charge. What you're charged depends on how long is left to run on your contract. Please note that as of 29 November 2020, Early Termination Charges are subject to VAT.

Alternatively, if you had signed up to a special offer, you have to pay the outstanding term charges.

For more information please visit www.bt.com/terms >

How much notice do you need?

To stop your BT products (such as phone, broadband, TV, Calling Features), you'll need to give us a minimum 30 days' notice.

If you want to stop the service before the 30-day period ends, you'll be charged for the remaining days.

Examples

If you tell us on 1 November that you want to stop your service on 10 November:

  • Between 1 November and 10 November you'll be charged as normal.
  • Between 11 November and 30 November you'll be charged for the rest of the 30-day notice period.
  • You should receive your final bill by 20 November (within 10 days of the stop date).

If you tell us on 1 November that you want to stop your service on 30 November:

  • You're giving the required 30-day notice period, and will continue using the service until it ends.
  • You won't be charged for any period after 30 November.
  • You should receive your final bill by the 10 December (within 10 days of the stop date).

Exceptions to the 30-day minimum notice period

  1. If you're switching to another provider through the standard process (you contact your new service provider and they notify us), the notice period will be 14 days.
  2. There's no notice period if the account holder has passed away. See The BT account holder has passed away - what do I need to do? >
