Broadband name change and average speeds

Big things are coming at EE

BT and EE are part of the same family, and big things are coming for the EE brand. But this won't change any of the BT services you have with us today. Read more about the changes coming to EE.

Broadband name change

From 23 May 2018, we've renamed our entire broadband portfolio for both new and existing customers. The new names are designed to be simpler and more descriptive.

Old name New name from 23 May
BT Broadband Broadband
Unlimited BT Broadband Broadband Unlimited
BT Infinity Lite Superfast Fibre Essential
BT Infinity Superfast Fibre
Unlimited BT Infinity Superfast Fibre Unlimited
Unlimited BT Infinity 2 Superfast Fibre 2 Unlimited
Ultrafast 1 Fibre 100
Ultrafast 2                                                                           Fibre 250

We'll be updating Hub Manager to show the new names very soon. In the meantime, it will show the old names - BT Infinity instead of Superfast Fibre, for example.

Average speeds

We've also changed the way we advertise our broadband speeds. This is to comply with new requirements set by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for all broadband providers. So instead of advertising up to speeds, we'll talk about the average speeds across our portfolio. The actual speed you receive won't change and we'll continue to give you your personal estimated up to speed when you place an order with us.

The average speed quoted is based on the speed available to at least 50% of customers at peak time (8-10pm). Your actual speed will be dependent on your location, phone line, home wiring, wi-fi connection and time of day.
