Why can't I see a BT Wi-fi network?

Big things are coming at EE

BT and EE are part of the same family, and big things are coming for the EE brand. But this won't change any of the BT services you have with us today. Read more about the changes coming to EE.

There are a number of reasons why you may not be able to see a BT Wi-fi network.

  1. You need to check that the device you're trying to connect with is wi-fi enabled. If it has wi-fi functionality built in, check it's switched on. If you have a wi-fi adapter, make sure that the device is set up correctly and that the adapter is installed correctly
  2. The hotspot that you are trying to connect through might have opted out of the service. It might still show as an active hotspot on the BT FON maps because we haven't updated them yet
  3. The customer may have temporarily unplugged or switched off their BT Hub
  4. You may be out of range of the BT Wi-fi signal that is being shown on the BT Wi-fi map
