Repeat log in failures to BT Email

Big things are coming at EE

BT and EE are part of the same family, and big things are coming for the EE brand. But this won't change any of the BT services you have with us today. Read more about the changes coming to EE.

Most log in failures are because you've changed your password and forgotten to update all the devices and email programs you use to get your email.

If we detect multiple failed log in attempts on your BT Email account, we'll lock it to protect you and will ask you to change your password to make it secure again.

If you sometimes use a mobile device, tablet or an email client (such as Microsoft Outlook or Mac Mail) to view your BT Email, it's important that whenever you change your password you update your password there as well. You'll need to refer to your manufacturer's help for more guidance on how to do this. But generally the place to look is "Settings" or "Tools".

Maybe you've:

  • recently used somebody else's email client, mobile device or tablet to access your BT Email account?
  • allowed somebody else to access your BT Email account using an email client, mobile device or tablet?
  • recently changed your email client, mobile device or tablet?
  • recently lost a mobile device you used to access your BT Email or had one stolen?

If it's yes to any of these questions, it's possible that the client or device is still trying to access your BT Email account using an old password.

  1. If you've still got it, you'll need to update the password or delete the connection
  2. Once you've updated your password, log back in to your BT Email account at www.bt.com
  3. You may see a message asking you to change your password again. Before you do this, turn off any other device (mobile, tablet or laptop) that you use for email and which may be using an old password
  4. Follow the online step-by-step advice to fix things
  5. Switch on and update the password on other devices you use for email. You'll need to refer to your manufacturer's help for more guidance on how to do this but generally the place to look is "Settings" or "Tools"
