How do I make the camera shared or private?

A shared camera is visible to your friends you’ve already invited. If you don’t want to share it anymore you can turn your settings into private.

In the BT Home Cam App:

  1. Log in to the BT Home Cam App
  2. On the 'My Camera' page tap on the 'Camera Settings' next to your camera
  3. In the 'Access' section you can find the 'Sharing' setting
  4. By taping on it you can choose between 'Shared' and 'Private' options

In the web portal:

  1. Log in to the web portal at https://myhomecam.bt.com
  2. Click on the 'My Camera' menu
  3. Click on your camera
  4. Click on 'Sharing'
  5. In the 'Access' section you'll find the 'Status' setting
  6. By clicking on it you can choose between 'Shared' and 'Sharing Disabled' options

Can I give access to friends to view my camera’s live video?

Yes, through the web portal:

  1. Log in to the web portal at https://myhomecam.bt.com
  2. Click on the 'My Camera' menu
  3. Click on your camera
  4. Click on 'Sharing'
  5. Under the 'Invite' section you can provide your friend’s email address and a personal note to invite them
  6. After providing these details click on 'Send'
  7. Your friend will receive an email with the link to the web portal
  8. If they already have an account they can log in and see your camera’s live stream. If they haven't got an account, they need to register and create an account without a camera to view the live feed
  9. They need to click on the 'Not yet a member? Sign up' line where they'll be able to provide a username, password and email address for the registration
  10. Once registered, they can see your camera’s live stream through the web portal or the BT Home Cam App

How can I un-share my camera?

You can change your camera to private, to find out how, click here.

You can also control the list of viewers using the BT Home Cam App:

  1. Log in to the App
  2. Tap the 'My Camera'
  3. Tap the 'Camera Setting' next to your camera
  4. Under the 'Access' section you can find the 'Sharing' setting.
  5. Tap on the 'Sharin'g setting and you can see the list of viewers and you can disable them

In the web portal:

  1. Log in to the web portal at https://myhomecam.bt.com
  2. Click on the 'My Camera' menu
  3. Click on 'Sharing'
  4. Under the 'Access' section you'll see the list of viewers and you can disable them

How many friends can I invite to see the live stream of the Home Cam?

There is no limitation on the number of users accessing the Home Cam.

Three simultaneously live video streams are supported from one camera.

How can I see a friend’s camera?

In the BT Home Cam App:

  1. Log in to the BT Home Cam App
  2. Tap on the 'Friend’s Camera' menu
  3. Here you can see the camera of your friend who invited you to see his/her camera.
  4. Tap on the camera to see its live feed

In the web portal:

    https://myhomecam.bt.com
  1. Click on the 'Friend’s Camera' menu
  2. Here you can see the camera of friends who invited you to see their camera
  3. Click on the camera to see its live feed

How private is the Home Cam video?

Your events stored in the cloud and the live stream are secured by your personal username and password created by you.

The password strength indicator will show you how strong your password is.
